Appointed Vice-President of Quality Biologics Drug Product Manufacturing in 2014 and since 2018 Head of Manufacturing Pharma at the Mannheim; Gemany site.

Miran is the site general manager for two large pharmaceutical production sites in Germany, with responsibility for over 1300 employees. Prior to this he was site general manager for PLIVA/TEVA's Croatian production site. He has extensive experience around the creation and execution of production strategy and it's role within the wider supply chain for pharma.
Stephen Closs

Stephen has more than 28 years of experience in engineering and pharmaceutical research and development. He currently oversees the global strategic technical activities related to the development, scale-up, commercialization and continued performance of multi-drug product portfolios for clients. He currently also oversees novel technology introduction projects including continuous manufacturing. Mr. Closs has led Centers of Excellence teams for Design of Experiments (DOE), Process Analytical Technology (PAT) and Quality by Design (QbD).

Bianca currently heads up the Manufacturing & Pharmaceutics department within ProQR Therapeutics; a biotech company focused upon RNA thrapies for genetic rare diseases. Her span of control involves everything from strategy up to operations related to manufacturing/supply, chemistry, formulation/delivery and (bio)analytical chemistry of oligonucleotides. She has built the department from scratch and enabled delivery of ProQR's supplies for the first clinical studies.

His proven ability to manage operations and deliver organizational change has optimized local, regional, and global performance. For both work and leisure, Vijay has traveled to over 25 countries, living and working in both the United States and Ireland.

Heike started her career after studying Chemical Engineering at Berkeley at an engineering firm, Bechtel doing process design work for BioTech facilities, then moved on to work for Chiron and Novartis as Manufacturing specialist, process engineer and CMC lead. She then moved to Austria to work as CMC and Global Product Lead for Biosimilar Antibodies at Sandoz.  After time at Novartis and Grifols Diagnostics  as PMO head and MSAT Director she moved on to Bayer as Associate Director in Operations Management, and now is in Germany as MSAT Director BioTech for Validation.

Michael Schneider

Michael Schneider is Director of Network Strategy for the Roche Pharmaceuticals Drug Product Manufacturing unit. Michael joined Roche in 2004 and filled various positions of increasing responsibility in Biotech and Steriles manufacturing. He started his career in large investment projects for new Biotech and Parenteralia manufacturing facilities. Michael lead the Manufacturing Science and Technology unit in Mannheim and was involved in many product launches and transfers. Since 2017 he is responsible for the asset and product sourcing strategy of the Drug Product manufacturing network. Michael holds a Master and PhD in Chemical Engineering from ETH Zurich and an Executive MBA from IMD Lausanne.

Dr. Helge Berg

With currently 5 direct reports and 24 team members, Helge is heading the European Biomanufacturing Sciences Network (BSN) at Merck. It is a globally networked team of scientists and engineers that provides technical consultation, hands-on development, scale-up & implementation partnership with clients to ensure robust and sustainable utilization of Merck Millipore technologies at all scales and phases of drug production. The European team currently consists of 24 scientists and engineers, the global organisation approximately 80.

Gareth Alford

Gareth started his industrial career in 1999 for a Contract Engineering firm; designing building pharmaceutical and Oil and Gas facilities. In 2002 he joined GSK at their R&D facility in Stevenage. Since 2008, he has been lead engineer in primary continuous manufacturing, designing and operating Continuous Processing units in GSK Stevenage; engineering several Pilot, Lab and Manufacturing Flow Facilities. He is am part of a growing team within Advanced Manufacturing technologies responsible for Technology Development for Manufacturing Platforms in GSK, working hard to develop Smart, Small, Agile Factories and make them a reality.

David Twohig

David is an accomplished consultant who has experience across multiple technologies and business functions within the life science industry. He has held a number of lead positions and been responsible for the management of different engineering and IT solutions and teams in supporting manufacturing and packaging operations. Presently he is a Program Manager working with  clients to deploy a global EBR solution to approximately 12 sites. As part of that work he has led multiple site feasibility assessments and business cases to define how EBR and other systems can be utilised to support their overall business objectives.

He leads the Pharma and Medical Operations practice for Europe and Middle East and “Industry 4.0” globally. He also leads the benchmarking service line POBOS for McKinsey.

In his client work he is focusing on operations strategy, digital performance transformations and building capabilities at scale. This covers supply chain, manufacturing, quality and procurement in Biotech, Pharma and consumer health.

He holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering and a Master in modern history from the Technical University of Berlin and a Master in Management from EM Lyon.

Markus has started his professional career in the pharmaceutical industry more than 10 years ago with Roche in Basel. He gained most of his professional experience with suppliers to the pharmaceutical industry in the area of temperature controlled supply chain. Working now as an International Market manager at Testo he takes responsibility of translating market evaluation to potential business solutions. Driving the global marketing, training & sales concept is also part of his job, as well as acting as a senior consultant for global sales projects as a major point of contact for customers at HQ.
